A friend of mine was in London recently and went to an art gallery showing works by a young English artist.
This young artist was really something; he had recently sold a painting for a Million Dollars.
I had never heard of this artist, but he must be great to sell a painting for that price.
My friend had a brochure about the artist and I didn't think the work really looked so hot.
The big sale generated a lot of publicity and hype in London -- it was a really big deal!
So, how could this young guy sell an art work for a cool million?
I found out today.
The painting was bought by an agent in New York for an anonoymous New York collector.
Shortly after this, this young artist in London bought a painting from a young up-coming artist in New York.
He bought it anonymously through his agent in London and paid a cool million.

They had simply traded paintings and created a bunch of ho-ha in the process.
Great trick!
Anyone want to buy a painting for a million dollars?
