Contemporary,
Your question got me contemplating, as I was walking around the neighborhood here, ... thinking what color seemed to be more condusive to positive action (i.e., buying).
I never really thought about it before, but YOUR inquiry MADE me, and here's what I'm finding:
(1) Bright red or deep crimson roses seem to repulse me, or seem too strong. A big purchase can bleed a person dry of cash, so maybe the red color reminds me of blood-letting expenditure.
(2) I really feel drawn to plants that are mottled shades of green and yellow green blended on the same leaf. I don't know plant names, but I know that this multi-colored shading of green on the same leaf somehow seems very appealing.
(3) I personally love elephant ears and those baby versions in multi-colored leaf patterns of dark violet and white and green (hastas?)
(4) Big bushes - I. Like. Big. Bushes. And I can-not lie (shut up, Sal).
(5) Purple colored flowers would seem like a hard sell, unless very carefully combined with other shades and textures.
Well,... this is what your question forced me to do.
Green, shades of green, leaves with multi-shades of green on the same leaf, yellow, big green leaves in the shade with maybe smaller leaf versions in other colors. Your yellow roses seem to be on the right track.
I hate yellow as a paint, but nature somehow does yellow better in plants, which I like.
