Don't know if you are still out there in cyber space but if you are this is what I know.

The piece is called 'Sitting on top of the world" and it was painted in the 70s I believe. Robert Owen lives in Washington State now, but lived in Balboa California when he painted this piece, and many others.

It is a self portrait.  Not Emmet Kelly actually.

He would dress up as a clown and then paint himself.  This was his trademark.

When he married ( in his later years ) a dear friend of mine's mother, Norma, he and Norma dressed in full

clown costume for the nuptuils.

I have not heard from him or his stepdaughter in a couple of years, but as far as I know he is alive and well and still painting and doing galleries and art shows in the Tacoma, Seattle area. He is a great artist and a wonderful person.
