Call to artists for The 10th International Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition. Entries must be received by August 29, 2008. Organized by the University of Hawaii Art Gallery, this triennial traveling exhibition is intended to serve as a vehicle of communication among sculptors in many parts of the world. Central to the exhibition’s concept is the challenge of creating works on a small scale which maintain integrity and control of sculptural elements. By considering the size of a shoebox, artists show how they address the challenge of scale. No entry fee. Initial exhibition at the University of Hawaii Art Gallery runs from March 1 - April 9, 2009; traveling itinerary to follow. An exhibition catalogue will be published.
