A series of seven artworks by Robert Kernodle. Images will appear separately (by title) in separate posts under this main thread (in d'ART Cafe' at fine-art.com) .
These artworks are actual paintings where fluid designs are "frozen" in the paint substrate (via drying) -- which differs from my related photographic style, where designs are "frozen" as film images of fluid patterns that cannot exist dry in their original substrate.
In 2004, I made these paintings on paperboard, I cut wood panels to mouunt them, put everything aside and never got back to it. Four years later (in 2008), I finally finished them.
Again, images of these paintings (painted panels only) will follow. Tell me what you think, as they appear.
Each artwork pictured (painted panel only) is 13 x 13 inches. Including the wood mount on which it is bonded, the ENTIRE artwork measures 17 3/8 x 17 3/8 x 3/4 inches, weighs appx. 2 1/2 US pounds, has a smooth gloss finish on the painted panel, and a textured matt finish on the wood (NOT shown), all together giving a solid feel of tangible weight and a contrast of sheens that highlights the wet appearance of liquid.
