Design Hope Toronto is seeking creative individuals to take part in a unique fundraising initiative to help Toronto’s less fortunate.
Now in our fourth year, Design Hope Toronto is recruiting artists, designers and architects to create and donate 2- and 3-dimensional works of art based on the theme of ‘shelter’. The artwork will be raffled or auctioned off at our annual event, scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2009. All proceeds will alleviate suffering in our community by raising funds for the Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre (PARC) and Edmond Place.
After three years, more than 80 pieces of literal and abstract representations of shelter have been donated by artists, raising over $32,000 for Dixon Hall’s Homeless, Hostels and Housing program.
Design Hope Toronto is accepting artist applications for our 2009 event until November 28, 2008. Artwork will be accepted on a non-juried, first come, first served basis in order of commitment, with priority given to new contributors and those who missed the previous year’s cut off. Acceptance will also be based on ensuring a balanced cross-section of media is represented. Artists who are accepted will have two months to create their one-of-a-kind works of art.
