I think that connecting poetry with visual arts gives a perfect synergy. This connection is widely used as there are contents organised to write a piece of poetry on art or the other way round.
Also such magazines like TATE ETC. are leading something like Poem of the Month where they publish online a poem written especially for them by a well-known poet. The poems reflects on the piece of visual art.
