I have reached the stage where I sense an obligation behind any act of intentional creation. I can no longer create just because I want to. I have to ask, "Where will the creation go?", "Does it serve anybody else's purpose besides my own selfish desire to create?", "Is the creation a significant attempt at contributing something to a shared civilization?", "Is there a place to store it?", "Am I just consuming the Earth's resources and making a higher form of garbage that serves no end beyond itself?"
The Earth is a limited space. Everybody is a potential artist. Where do we put all of our creations if not to some good use that benefits us all?
Selfish creation is passe. Responsible, relevant creation has been my goal. Currently, I am not creating fine art artifacts, because of the above questions.
Yes, we all WANT to create, but SHOULD we always obey the urge without regard to the greater whole?
