I bought an unsigned oil on canvas board very cheap last week.  But its a great painting.  a girl eating an apple.   Not a flat image.  very dimensional.   chubby cheeked young girl.   nice detail in straw hat.   nice skin-tones  rosy cheeked.  nice details in eyes and mouth.   plain blue sky; green ground backround.    Would this be considered folk art?   The execution of the painting is excellent.  not photographic quality like the old masters.  but a finely detailed young child eating an an apple, and it has dimension to it.  its not a flat one dimensional image.   I think this should be $1500 to $2000 piece, even if its unsigned, and not old.   I bought it ridiculously cheap, but I like the painting a lot.
