Hey everyone...Long time no see...
I see a few names I remember since the last time I popped in...
Since the last time I was here I have worked on switching artistic mediums, from original acrylic on canvas to photography.
My paintings were all referenced from photos (of whatever the subject was) I had taken with a 35mm SLR (started back in 1972...yes, real film), and after a comment on this forum I took a long and deep look at my art: was I a painter who also took photographs? or...was I a photographer who also painted?
It took me a while to sort things out. Since I first began in the days of film: take the shot; develop the roll of film, expose the negative on photo paper and develop that; - I felt the real art began with the initial framing of the shot, the selection of camera exposure settings, with the real magic occurring in the darkroom: I had to find some way to translate that into modern digital photography...and it took me a while to sort out my photographic workflow in a manner that felt the same as when I was working in a real darkroom with real film.
Regards,
Charles
