At Public Television’s Festival 2000, Two of John Green's prints were auctioned for a total $5,500. The prints of "Weim in His Prime," featuring a Weimaraner dog, and "Helping Hands," depicting an old-fashioned kitchen scene, were revealed to the public for the first time on Public Television during Festival, March 4-19. Both matted and framed prints were donated to the network by Green. John is a nationally recognized wildlife, landscape and portrait artist. Sales of his works have raised millions for conservation organizations.

The owner of the dog featured in "Weim in His Prime" suggested the idea, Green said. The artist, who is a fan of Public Television, said: "I thought the fund-raising drive would be a great way to show off the new print and support Public Television at the same time."

"Weim in His Prime" depicts a hunting dog that has just jumped out of his master’s pickup and gone to point. If you look closely, Green said, you can see a pheasant’s tail feathers in one corner of the picture. This print will soon be available here. The actual horizontal image is 22" by 16" .

Green said "Helping Hands" was created at his wife’s request for an upcoming Quester’s convention raffle. The Questers encourage the study of antiques and the preservation of historical sites, so the painting is set in a home in a historic Prairie Village. The 20" by 15" image shows a mother helping her young daughter make a pie crust while Grandma sits next to the table peeling apples. The mother in the picture is modeled after Green’s wife. This print will be available here soon.

Green has won state duck stamp competitions three times and was State Artist of the Year in 1991. He also has earned recognition at the National Wildlife Art Show. More than 50 of his limited-edition prints have sold out.

He recently celebrated his 30th year as a professional artist.

Green’s work has raised over $3 million for Ducks Unlimited and other conservation organizations such as the Izaak Walton League and Pro Pheasants through the sale of his prints and original artwork at fundraising banquets throughout the nation.

Green has been commissioned by a number of collectors to do paintings of their dogs. In addition to wildlife scenes, some of Green’s favorite subjects include children at play and landscapes.
