You have the right to join in whatever topic or discussion that is going on. If there is some chat going on that you feel is non-prductive then just skip it. There are many others going on that I am sure that you will enjoy being a part of. I don't see the point in jumping in there and trying to correct something going on that you don't like. Leave the whole thing to those who want to be talking about it and move onto something that you feel more comfortable talking about. It's pritty simple if you ask me. Whether that be that abortion topic or whatever. I'm sure it'll happen more than once. If you don't like it, move onto something you do, I fail to see what the big deal is.
