...taking a job where you can have use for your artistic abilities?
As in advertising,commercials, making illustrations, writing speaches ,slogans and those kind of things?
Or do you think that will take away the ceativity from your own art?
My "slave" works as an illustrator at a web-bureau, and he´s also an artist.
Sure, the job has taken a lot of his time and energy, but it has also given him the opportunity to earn money by doing what he does best and likes best, making pictures, designing games and websites and so on.
And he´s got about ten paintings hanging in the bureau too.
His plan is to become such a good and famous illustrator that people will start to buy his art too.
But if you have administrative leanings, then you should of course go for that.
