I am also a fine artist and graduated w/ my BFA in December. I interned in NYC last summer at a printshop.
You should check into the village voice classifieds at villagevoice.com They were really helpful in finding housing and sometimes have internships.
You should also check the Museum Resource Board, go under internships.
