Getting burned in NY I guess is part of the turf. Art calender released a fairly recent issue (don't remember which one ) with an article "Would You Sign This Contract?" which I found extremely enlightening. It's good to know how gullible you may actually be--many contracts are written to appear fair enough but actually tip far out of favor for the artist.
In NY there is an organization :NY Lawyers for the Arts who review contracts at a moderate price; you can't be too careful. I myself would not sign anything without at least one attourney's opinion.
Thanks shmoo
Say, you can't possibly be a dealer impersonating an arts advocate, could you?
only kidding.
