Every year at the end of July, Santa Fe Plaza becomes a show place for artisans that create art much like their ancestors of centuries ago.
Traditional arts shown at this market include:
Colcha embroidery,
• Santos - depictions of religious figures in the form of bultos, which are carvings in the round; retablos, which are paintings on wooden panels and gesso relief-carved panels.
• Straw Applique - crosses, chests and boxes decorated with straw.
• Textiles - hand-woven on looms, created from hand spun, vegetal-dyed yarns.
• Furniture - usually made from pine using mortise and tenon joints.
• Embroideries - employing the colcha stitch, which is unique to the region.
• Tinwork - religious and utilitarian objects cut and punched from tin.
• Ironwork - tools, fastenings, and household objects forged from iron.
• Jewelry - fashioned from gold and silver.
• Reatas - (lariats), braided rawhide, and leather horse gear.
• Ramilletes - paper garlands.
• Pottery - hand sculpted utilitarian pieces.
• Bonework - anillos (rings) and tool handles carved from bones.

This is a very unique and interesting show. To learn more about this event, please go to http://www.spanishcolonial.org
