Hello my name is Anwar. I am a picture framer in the Chicago/Illinois/USA area. I have seen a few Degas come through here and the owner had the same problems. What he did was contact a firm in Paris and 3 monthes later got a request to see the originals and a fee of 600 dollars for the service. He went through with the plan and never came back to the shop to report any progress good or bad. I think it would be safer to put the art up for auction and speak to the Auction house for information regarding professional authentification. I suspect Sotheby's ect would be well versed and informative for you. Hey maybe thier on the net! Good luck I like Churchhill paintings they are well versed in the traditional English tradition and show an interesting character.
