Statements made by appraisers and curators praise Kelly's work in pastels as some of the finest they have ever seen and his subject matter as exciting and unique. Born in Scotland, Kelly comes from a seafaring family that emigrated to Canada when he was a boy. His talent as a muscian as well as an artist allowed him to come to Los Angeles for intensive studies at the Art Center School. Kelly has over twenty-five honors and awards, is collected in both permanent collections of institutions as well as in private collections."
Hope this gives some addtional insight on John Kelly. My husband and I have collected and currently have 5 large pieces decorating our den walls.
