Bob:

You said you cannot stand the ideas Rockwell presented in his work.

A Boy And His Dog?

--I much prefer the short story 'A Boy and His Dog' by Harlan Ellison. Let's see Rockwell illustrate THAT!

The Golden Rule?

--Falls apart when applieed by masochists. (The Golden Rule naively assumes we all desire to be treated alike. That's hardly true.)

The Problem we all Live With?

--We are not all alike, there is no one problem with which we all live. (See above.)

Baseball?

--I despise sports. (See, we're NOT all alike.)

Freedom From Want?

--Only the dead want for nothing.

Freedom To Worship?

--I prefer freedom from worship--and freedom from those who worship!

A Day In The Life Of A Girl?

--Again, I doubt that female adolescence can be summed up by a single image.

New Kids in the Neighborhood?

--Somehow, I think that Rockwell has 'sweetened' this image, as well. Kids can be really, really CRUEL!

Thanksgiving?

--I have many good memories of Thanksgiving. I don't need Rockwell's nostalgia to remind me of my own life, not that his images are like my life...

Santa's Workshop? Keith! You can't stand Santa?

--I was the kid who, at two and a half years old, explained to the other--older--kids in the neighborhood why Santa could not possibly exist. My parents got quite a few phone calls that night, let me tell you!

And yes, Santa is a metaphor for god.

Really?

--Really!

Keith.
