From the article that Glen provided a link to:
But there are very good reasons to suspect that the tape is not what the US Government claims it to be. In the tape, Osama supposedly states that he knew of the attack on the WTC 5 days in advance, yet we know from the preparations inside the United States that the plan had been in existence for much longer than that. In particular, the supposed hijackers took flying lessons without asking to learn how to land the planes. The records of those flight schools where the hijackers supposedly trained have been confiscated under the watchful eye of Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida and brother to the President. Will the Bush administration now claim that the hijackers learned to fly a passenger jet in just 5 days' time?
From the transcript of the videotape:
We were at (...inaudible...) when the event took place. We had notification since the previous Thursday that the event would take place that day.
THAT day.
I think it is entirely possible that Osama Bin Laden was behind the planning of the attacks, but, until the previous Thursday, did not know of the precise date of the attack. In order to preserve secrecy and the success of the operation, it makes sense that the exact date was not known until a few days before.
Consider another scenario: a mob boss orders a hit on a person. The mob boss has ordered a hit, but he might not know the exact day when the hitman will perform the deed. The hitman will strike at a time when he is least likely to get caught -- waiting for a perfect moment.
I see no conflict between Osama's words, and the details of the planning of the attacks.
Another excerpt from the article:
The figure claimed to be Osama states that he heard about the WTC attacks "immediately at 5:30 pm "our time". But if Osama was really living in Afghanistan as claimed by the US in its justifications of the invasion, 5:30 pm would be 7:00 AM in New York, long BEFORE the attacks had taken place.
The article then provided links to the current time in NYC and Kabul. Maybe my math is not correct, but the current time in Kabul is 01:05:**, and the current time in NYC is 15:37:**. Based on my math, a 9.5 hour difference currently exists between NYC and Kabul. I say "currently" because at the end of October, daylight savings time ended and we Americans "fell back an hour" (fall back, spring forward). Afghanistan does not observe daylight savings time, right? So, on September 11th, there was actually only an 8.5 hour difference between NYC and Kabul time. Therefore, when Osama says 5:30 our time, it was about 9:00 NYC time, and the first plane hit at 8:43.
