I charge by the square inch, rounding off to the nearest
five dollars above for any canvas size. I have a standard
price for all drawings no matter what the size up to 11x14
inches. Above that I charge by quality of workmanship. My
prices seem to work well enough to sell an average of one
piece per month which supplements my investment income.
Should demand rise noticeably I will raise my prices across
the board. I agree that most artists overprice thier work.
It is important to identify your customer base then make
your work available at a low price. To make more money
produce a large amount of work and get it out where it can
be seen. Don't hold work back until you progress both in
sales and skill. Establish a following. The more pieces you
sell, the more people will want your work.
