I wouldn't define Leo Meiersdorff as a street artist at all. He first arrived in this country in 1957, after submitting a design, which became a cover album for one of Norman Granz's jazz recordings/productions recorded in Berlin, Germany. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Berlin and was a master student of Oskar Kokoshka, the great Expressionist painter. He lived in NYC, yes, in the 1960's, then moved to New Orleans in the 1970s. From then on he was involved with set decorations for jazz productions, jazz festival posters, and many original paintings. What you see posted on the web as "so-called" official sites are dealers masquerading as friends of his. He never trusted any dealers! He passed away in 1994 of complications from diabetes.

Hope that helps you.

J. Meiersdorff
