From Gulf War veteran to breathtaking (urban-contemporary). Marcus Jansen is currently publishing the “Concrete Canvas Series” with Ataraxia Studio. Ataraxia Studio is delighted to publish such a magnificent artist whose life and work is so distinct and exceptional. Marcus’ first showing was at the “Metropolitan Museum of Art” in 1974 when he was just a child. His painting of a male lion was selected to be shown in the New York City School of Art competition. Marcus exhibited at Oprah Winfrey’s 2000 “Color Show” in Chicago. In 1999 Marcus was chosen as the winner in a National art competition known as ORB.E with his piece entitled “Subway 82”, one of the works within the “Concrete Canvas Series”. During this same year Marcus was able to attain gallery showings by simply displaying his works on the streets of New York City. Marcus has had over 20 exhibitions since. He is also the winner of the semi-final round of New York City’s ORB.E competition for 2001. His artwork was shown at the 1998 “Slowart” competition and he was recognized at Madison Square Garden’s Film and Art Festival. Marcus Jansen’s life has been the epitome of diverse experience. He was born in New York and eventually raised in Germany. As an adult Marcus has traveled back and forth between the United States and Europe. From his life experience including service in Desert Storm during 1990-1991, Marcus is able to interpret the world around him in a manner that is truly like no other. His artwork captures the raw reality of everyday life, but it is his extraordinary style that allows those who view his artwork to truly be drawn in. Marcus continues to travel the globe gaining inspiration and showing his work all over the world including the United States, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.
