first of all, hello to all that come across this...
i've taken a break from adding new pieces lately because this seems to be the only time i can come around here!
my business partner jen and i have started a new project: surfside 7 popart extravaganza! surfside 7 is a swanky bar that we have been working at for the last 3 weeks. the owner (and our friend) has commissioned us to do some painting/design work in his bathrooms, hallway and alcove by the bathrooms. we have been busy the last few weeks between our day/night jobs to get this done, and hopefully boost our potential business together, jd or dj design... not sure on the name yet.
i will be showing our work on dart soon, mostly to put it in my portfolio. but, i'll be putting it on the critics' corner as well.
if there's one thing to know about me, it's this.. i'm not a fantastic painter, in fact, i don't consider myself an actual artist. i do what i do for therapeutic and aesthetic reasons. hell, i started painting more because i couldn't afford to buy the art i wanted and my walls were screaming to be adorned!
so, my goal should be the design/mural type stuff like we're currently working on. i love to do art shows, but this design stuff is really going to pay off in the end... plus, give a little more light to my artwork.
we hope to finish this huge project by next week, and i can't wait to get some input into what we have accomplished! i'll be listing the pics as collages, just to give the viewer an idea of the bar's motif, and how we blended in quite easily, giving them a fabulous facelift!
