e are proud to announce - THE METROPOLITAN TRIBE!

THE METROPOLITAN TRIBE combines the best aspects of professional, networking, business, and personal development groups. Our members are visual artists of all types and creative individuals in related, non-competitive fields (e.g. designers, photographers, writers, craftspeople, web designers,etc.). The idea of connecting people with similar goal to one another, and gaining strength through a tribal structure has been beneficial to humans for more than 10,000 years. The collaborative, tribal environment benefits every member, collectively and individually. Simply put (in the words of the Klamath Indian tribe):" Ha-sat' waaY - naat cii-wapk - we help each other; we will live."

We created THE METROPOLITAN TRIBE to bring like-minded people together to reach common goals into a modern environment. We are artists, too and we know how hard it is (especially for beginning creative individuals) to find the rights types of support, and how easy it is to become isolated from colleagues and other, naturally-formed support systems. Our goal is to bring creative entrepreneurs together in positive, productive, non-competitive ways that other professional and business associations do not. Most importantly, we believe that sharing information and resources is the key to success in every field and that everyone has similar experiences, feelings, and needs as they move forward in their professional lives.

Our "IN-PERSON" activities and services are open to members in the New York area, ranging from educational/social events and mentoring/networking programs, to motivational " success teams." We also offer access to business services. If you want to join the tribe in New York, watch our NEWS & EVENTS page and join our mailing list by E-mailing your request to: metrotribe@metrotribe.org.

ONLINE we invite a global community to connect to like-minded colleagues around the block, or around the world. We invite you to our exclusive CHAT ROOM and to discuss general topics of all sorts in our ART & WORK FORUM . Get ideas and barter your skills, tools, and materials in our RESOURCE EXCHANGE FORUM . Read our "LIFE & CAREER ADVICE COLUMN" for tips to better manage your life & career. Visit our LINKS for goods and services you'll find useful, or suggest your own.

There is no fee to join this group, although some in-person events that will soon take place (in NYC) may have a nominal cost. We hope that everyone understands we're not out to duplicate what others are already doing, but we are striving to offer something new, fresh, important and unique! We are seeking volunteers of all types to help with both online and off-line (in person) activities.

To join and use all our online resources, and to learn about upcoming events (if you're in the NYC area) visit our web site at: http://www.metrotribe.org/ or write us: metrotribe@metrotribe.org

We hope you'll join us. Even if you don't, won't you kindly visit our web site and let us know what you think? Feedback is the only way we can make the tribe work better. We welcome your comments and criticism as well as your praise! We also hope you'll consider volunteering and/or suggesting names of colleagues and friends that you think would be interested in THE METROPOLITAN TRIBE.
