Thanks for the information, but I believe we are talking about a different John Kelly. The John Kelly I am refering to was born Scotland in 1939 and lived in Canada until he became a Merchant Marine at age 17. At 20 he joined several rock bands as a drummer, one of which (the Echoes)played in Las Vegas, NV. He also did a little acting in Hollywood. He always liked painting and attended Los Angeles Art Center School. Because he liked his mariner heritage, his paintings usually featured the sea or ships. I personally met him in 1984 in Southern California when I purchased a few of his pieces. At that time he lived and had a studio in Malibu, CA, but not much has been heard of him since.
