Please feel free to share your thoughts too. (In fact do)
These are just a few passing thoughts on selling (seeing as quite a few posts here relate to the subject)
1 One has to think of what the people want / like. Okay well don't - but then be happy not to sell (unless you have a name that sells) If one goes too wierd with creations then one limits your self to the too wierd market and exclude the rest. For me it's not a lot a fun painting for the store room.
2 Galleries. They have an established client base - obvious. New artists should try to participate in a group exhibition.
3 Internet. A good clean fast easy to use web site is in order --- and submit to the major search engines. also opt in or targeted e mail lists can help. My site at www.wildscreens.com has a "pic of the day" section, in which I sometimes display my art as well. I also have an auction page. Although I'm in the backwoods of the wilds of South Africa DHL delivers art to buyers in a flash.
4 Subject matter. Well I'm obviously biased: see web site at http://www.wildscreens.com/frank_art.htm hah, hah, he ,he!
