I bought this poster(?) from the flea market because it was cute. I've had it for a year now and finally got around to looking up some info about it. I found the print here which is how I now know it is called Roaring Cat. It was one of the pieces in Hilschers' Circus Series. However, here it says 1974 and my piece is signed and dated 1970. My knowledge of Art is limited to one college level Art Appreciation class, so please bear with me.

My question is what does it mean when something is described as a poster? The piece I have seems to be an original lithograph; or is that an oxymoron? I think a lithograph is a poster, but there were a certain number of them printed at one time, with paint onto heavy paper, then no more. Is this correct? That's what mine looks like, anyway. There is a Polish poster website that sells my Roaring Cat. If I purchased that would it be just like the one I have? Or when it says poster, does it mean what I used to hang in my room when I was a teenager?

I'm asking this because I would like to purchase more if they are similar to mine. Also, because I'm curious about the descrepency in dates (1974 vs. 1970).

If you have any interest in this artist or can at least answer my lame question about posters, I would appreciate it very much. Feel free to email me at rabbitconanan@yahoo.com.
