We've been operating an online art gallery since early this year. The hits are certainly becoming encouraging, the main emphasis for online is promotion and marketing.

Certainly the visitors won't come if you don't tell them. That takes up lots of your time. If you don't have the time to put into this, then the results are likely to be limited. It is important to have something on your site that visitors will come back for again and again. While this might be the product you sell, it usually needs to be a freebie to entice visitors.

Ultimately, whether a fine craft gallery, art gallery or any other internet or real world business succeeds is down to it's ongoing marketing programme. Take for example the giants McDonald's and Coca Cola. Their products are not haute cuisine, they're not the best eating and drinking experiences one can have, but their names are recognisable to the majority of dwellers on this planet due primarily to their continuous, ongoing marketing campaigns.

I hope this is of some help to you.
