How Original! An Art Gallery in Laguna Beach, announces a call for entries. The summer art exhibit, Kitschy Kitschy Kool! – Pink Flamingos and Other Kitsch, will premier on June 1, 2003 and run through August 31.
Gallery owner Loretta Alvarado says, “As I was driving past homes in Laguna Beach, I noticed that there weren’t any plastic pink flamingos on the lawns. Something has to be done about this!”
Two separate competitions will take place simultaneously. The first is about plastic flamingos, painted, dressed, or otherwise decorated to the artist’s taste. The second is for two-dimensional artists and their favorite interpretation of kitsch.
