That is not an easy question to answer... I used to work as a marketing specialist for Bell Canada telephone company in Toronto... People would contact me for donations or sponsorship to events where the proceeds would go to organizations such as the United Way...
I am not listed anywhere in the directories (as a sponsorship person) for such events so I can only imagine all the loops these people had to go through to just find me...

Anyway if you are looking for corporate buyers to purchase your work... I would put together a proposal stating that the proceeds of the sales would to go 'such and such' organization. Leave contact info and be prepared to answer questions right away because if you contact the right person in charge they will want to know immediately.

You can always call the main number of any organization talk to the front desk and ask for the email address or extension number of the public relations or sponsorship manager of the company it is less intrusive and it won't result in a hang-up. Email is the easiest because most company email addresses consists the person's name in the email such as michelle.montague@bell.ca

Some companies specifically have artbuyers to purchase art for their offices, but my guess is to try to contact the both PR and the art buyer if possible. Also you can get in contact with the marketing department sometimes the Sponsorship and PR are the reponsibility of Marketing (such as in my case)if not they can most definitely direct you. Be persistent if someone doesn't return your email it is most likely because they are busy...If they were not interested they would advise you of that.

Have a portfolio ready to present to these people or if you acquire enough corporate contacts organize a showing of your works and invite them, these people if interested actually show up with the purpose of buying remember they are spending company money so $3000 is a drop in the bucket for them, besides you might get a few private buyers as a result.

There are a lot of companies that purchase or sponsor events for a worthy cause because it contributes to the community, boosts the moral and image of the company as well. Go to any bank or hospital for example most of them have artworks displayed so they were probably purchased buy a representative it is not easy to find out, but they do exist. You just have to be persistant.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas.

Michelle
