I'm interested in buying some 19th to mid 20th century art, but want to learn more about it before I spend any money.

Have any of you folks, ever used any of the art databases such as ARTPRICE, ASKART or others? Are they any good? Are they worth the money, or are there other, better cheaper ways to research artists, valuations etc?

Any information would be very much appreciated.
