This website is dedicated to the promotion of Marcus Antonius Jansen's unique art style.
Marcus Antonius Jansen describes his work as Urban-Expressionism - a combination of many different elements and styles which at first sight make his paintings appear like detailed collages.
Since the 1980s, inner city influenced art has incorporated sub-cultural elements, urban feel and raw graffiti expression. Painters like Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat were some of the first renowned artists to bring this to the mainstreams. Despite of wide-spread criticism, graffiti art in itself has yet taken a back seat on the global market.
Some of this "raw uncut energy and elements" are brought back by this painter in a combination that serves more as a bridge reaching all viewers, as described by Jansen's gallery representative Gallery Director Michel Vandeplaas (Stricoff Fine Arts ltd., in Manhattan), who is pleased to exclusively represent Jansen's work in Chelsea.
The New York native who spent many years of his life in Germany and traveling the world in and outside the Military sees his roots in Urban New York and European Modern Expressionism.
Besides the United States, our Collectors and Galleries range from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK. His innovative style was just recently honored by the Ford Motor Company who commissioned Jansen to paint four historic paintings for the company's Centennial Celebration in 2003 that were presented at the Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit.
Among numerous other industry magazines, Art Business News and Art World News have repeatedly noted Jansen in many articles in recent years.
Since beginning of 2004, Jansen's work is internationally published and will be distributed by renowned Publishers Winn Devon Art Group Ltd. in Seattle, WA. The official release will take place in June 2004.
