I have noticed much chatter of Sky Jones in SEC as of late. However, this has actually been in the news since the mid 90's. I personally believe that the art will rise or retain its original appraisals due to this controversy. Unfortunately though right now, the value has decreased. There are several reports 10/22/03: http://www.sec.gov/litigation/litreleases/lr18420.htm, 2002: http://www.sec.gov/litigation/admin/34-45502.htm, http://slw.issproxy.com/securities_litigation_blo/SkyJones.rtf, and http://www.gamblingmagazine.com/articles/starnet/starnet399.htm which all give conflicting opinions of the value. It has been historically common though that with more publicity, whether good or bad, values rise. And there have been SO many artists whose work has come under fire and is suspect to the general public, that I honestly don't see how this differs. Finally, I will tell you that I was able to sell one of mine (with the "Treasure" book) for $5000 cash last year. On the other hand, I have been bombarded with offers for trade in the original appraised amount, but to no avail as the properties offered did not interest me. I believe barter can be an excellent way to do business, IF it's done with integrity! As a result, I have updated my listings to reflect trades I will entertain. http://sky_jones.tripod.com/info/id1.html
Eventually, I may try new venues to sell the remaining pieces, but I will always be honest about my listings which I STRONGLY encourage! Hope this has been helpful for someone.
