Here is another scam, worth sharing.
A man wrote to me, introducing himself as Victor Perkins, p.r.o. of a small engineering company, commissioning three watercolors to give away as presents to employees of his company.
When I got to the business side of it, he wanted me to cash a check of 4000 pounds that would be sent to me by one of his debitors. I would have to cash it, take my painting-money off that, and send the rest to ‘his shipper’.
I think it works like this: some banks give you the money without waiting for clearance (although my bank doesn’t with such a large amount). If, after a few weeks, if turns out to be a bad check the bank withdraws the money from your account. But you would have already sent ‘the rest’ to the other party, and that is how you loose the money.
He said he’d have the paintings picked up, but I think they don’t care about the items. You’d be left with the paintings, and find yourself a lot poorer after a few weeks ….

Reagrding payment , my client mr Fabian Costa in the U.K is
oweing me 4,000 pounds ,which i will instruct him to issue you a draft
drawn on my behalf, he would need your full name,contact address and
phone number so that he can forward the draft to you, you would then cash
the money from the draft at the nearest post office or cashing point and
collect the cost of the paintings and
the remaining balance would be sent to my shipper via Western Union
Money Transfer so he could come over to pick up the paintings at your
location ASAP.You are to please cash the money from the draft and send the
balace to my shipper immediately ( whose information i would provide to you
in subsequent emails ) that would be handling his shipping cost and
accommodation toU.K to pick up the paintings . He also would
arrive with one of my staff . I would have to trust you to send the
money to him in order for him to pick up the paintings . As for now i
would be
contacting my client to make payments to you ASAP and also my
shipper to start puting up every necessary arrangement as soon as payment
gets to you . My shipper would need you to send funds to him after
receipt of payment so he could ship the paintings just in time for
the event .
I would give you a call with the number you have given me .If
these would be okay by you,kindly get back to me as soon as possible.
