I guess I am the lucky one this time. I got targeted by someone claiming to be representing someone from london who wanted to buy one of my pieces. It wasent until i think the third email, until i began discussing payment details. This scam goes a little something like this... You recieve an offer from someone saying they represent a private client. they make an offer and wait for you to accept. then when comes payment discussion, they want to send you a casheirs check for a hefty sum over the ammount... sayin that it is some sort of refund check. they want you to cash it and wire them the difference. the check turns out to be fake and you then owe it all to the bank.

Fortunately for me i recognized a stinky deal and varified my thoughts by telling them they had to use the gallery i work with. i didnt hear again from him. then i sent a scathing email and contacted the FBI INTERNET FRAUD dept. hopefully these soulless crooks who chose to pray on one of the known "poorest professions" will get their asses burned. beware. always hold your piece until all forms of payment compleatly clears (usually 2 weeks) before you ship it to your client. ...because... any format of payment can be fake and you could end up paying for it!

Good luck!
Emelie
