Dit,
I quickly read over your voluminous post, respecting (as always) your personal committments. An honest dialogue can help clarify BOTH our views, hopefully, without threatening EITHER.
Human action requires attunement to human physical form. Other wise we could achieve NO harmonious physical interaction in the world at all. I try to reduce my personal sense of spirituality to words, dear dit, because you ask me in words to explain.
Even in your thoughtful comments on "how" and "why", I find certain unavoidable contradictions, because you cannot ask "why?" without experiencing a sense of "how" things happen.
To my perception, I am a physical body. I give primacy to this perception. Body is how we touch the world. Words are songs of the body's motion in the world. Words are songs about the body's motion in the world. I have a song. YOU have a song.
I've said here before that NO language is totally correct. ALL language is abstraction from a supreme real beyond humanity.
But . . . what language allows us to do is dance the physical dance of life better. Or, at least, I think it can as many times as not.
Language is song in which we seek resonance (which YOU and I seem to have). A few resonances here and there are as good as we can do with language.
That being said, I believe that we need both science AND religion, and we need them to favor one another, in order to guide us on our physical, bodily path.
Science has a language, just as your beliefs have a language, just as my beliefs have a language. Each human ultimately resolves into his/her own best focus on these languages. This attempt at resolution is the very essence of sprirituality for me, because it involves all the rhythms of life's breath come together in our various imperfect songs.
