Lucky for me i can't give my crap away but i did begin to fall for a scam and built a swell bullet proof flight case to ship a painting to South Africa...........it makes a nice skid to pile paintings on now.
These scammers will never give you a phone number that works or a real adress of a real gallery. It seems like they hit artists who do sell or atleast ask a fair price for thier work thinking you have enough money to be scammed for.
Beware but try to keep a good attitude, talk art to them,if they are clueless Run in the other direction.
Now for the stuff that strikes at or near home
#1 Co-op cool ass gallery charges 25-?$ to see if you can be judged into the inner santum of mod-a-go go- on the scene cool artists.
I found out the hard way that 170 artists times 25 bucks each if they do this judge in gag 4 times a year pays thier rent=17.000 $
#2 The juried scam show=you pay 25 or higher dollars per slide(hello slides ?)to see if you get a SHOW of your OWN.
watch out,it may be well meaning but what do you get in return ? you still have to throw the show out of your own pocket and hype it,
I even had to replace 100 bucks of light bulbs.
The judge walks off with 1200 dollars or so and at most you become (drum roll ) The Emerging Artist.......wow !
if artists band together it is easier to cut thru the poopy
All hail fine-art dot com the most honest art site in a sea of empty promises or people who have no idea how hard it is to sell art in a country that has become anti art. bitter ? yah but keep painting everyone and do it for you, things will change for the better and you will have lots of work to show and sell............They can toss a tarp over a beautiful statue's boobies but they can't stop art........Thankyou all for being artists and true to yourselves......is it hot enough for you today ?
Are we having Funism yet ?
