But the Stuckist's posited unbridgeable dichotomy between 'traditional' 'figurative' and 'conceptual' art is purely artificial. I recently stood (once again)in awe before the Washington Da Vinci - which fits absolutely all the canons of 'traditional art' - the medium, the subject, the method, the style , the content etc etc. EXCEPT is also overtly embodies the 'concepts' of fidelity, fine intellect (she was an exceptionally bright and learned woman) and beauty (also a cuulturally conditioned concept - African Women with long knecks and lip rings!!!). So I am for modernism, post modernism, and pre-modernism - as a truely 'catholic' atheist!
