This painting was an idea that came from the painting titled, Unbecoming. I wanted to create a more convincing face in this piece. The lines are connected from top to bottom, left to right and it took me a while to realize that by using this method I would be successful in the outcome.

The face, that I hope you see, was created as I painted. I pushed and pulled with highlights and darker tones until the right shapes began to come out. The mouth area was a surprise to me to be as simple as it turned out. I like the expression the face gives as well.

I mixed the paint, including the black, with many colors to bring out a dynamic range of tones once i started to highlight them. Although the photo doesn't bring out the life of this work it does bring out the concept.

Without commitment I write the following. I like to paint. I like to draw. I like to sculpt. I like to fix and create things.

Art is the only thing in my life that I don't have to take seriously. It comes from within and I don't argue with it. The meanings or influences that go into my painting although they are my own are easily translated by viewers from their perspective.

I have a lot of irons in the fire which is an expression meaning that I have a lot going on in my life. I build websites for companies and work from home. I have no children, I'm not married, I'm surrounded by cats, dogs and horses. I always find time to paint because I'd rather be doing that anyway.

A year or more ago I gave birth to a painting using 3 point perspective. It is titled Absolute Uncertainty. It is my member gallery but take a look at all of the developing photos, close ups and flash presentation on how to properly use 3 point perspective. I receive emails from all over the world on how cool this is, so I point to you this shining star.

Appreciate all you have in your heart and love the people around you. Dave

Profile Very unusual and very challenging work!
Profile I enjoyed creating this piece a lot and will be doing more work like this in the future, especially with the support that I have been getting from people like you and all that have responded to this work.
Profile I agree about how far to go before something takes the wrong turn. I agree that the color and tone changes really saves the concept I wanted to bring out. I worked more on the color than the image itself. Thank you for your time and comments! Dave
Profile ... into just another cliche, but it didn't. A deft handling of values, whites and design transform it from the basic into an image with intrigue. The center is wondeful. Lee
Profile I really had a great time creating this piece and it has been the result of many studies. I'm very grateful for your time to critique and your continued support in my artwork. I think what really makes it is the color. I blended many colors from tubes of paint and created this very rich hue. It has...
