Emelie Koshland is one of the emerging "new generation" movement of independent young artists coming out of San Francisco. With her start in make-up the first 10 years in San Francisco, in 2002 she formally switched mediums and re-found fine arts. In 2003 Emelie began her first formal education in art at CCSF; Fort Mason, as well began her relationship with the Artist X-Change Gallery in the Mission. She began showing her work in installations, May of that same year. Her work continues to draw acclaim (international) and to sell ,partly because of her intense energy that goes into creating everything she does. Emelie says "It is (art) made with passion and music and color and when i am done, it should make me feel good. It is not done until it does. I guess that others can feel that too, and hopefully that energy carries with the piece long after i am gone."Emelie Koshland can be catagorized into many styles... and yet, none exactally. She definately is known for her Ladies and high fashion styled paintings, as well as her fearless use of color and free fluid brush strokes.Emelie Koshland has only been formally creating art for 3 years, and yet, she has shown in countless shows, has created in a dozen mediums and has already created a large catalogue of work.The world should take notice of the talent emerging from this current artist culture coming out of San Francisco.
