I was inspired to do this painting when I saw a show on the Life Network, called Animal Miracles, which profiled Mountain View Conservation and Breeding Centre. I was so impressed that I contacted them right away to let them know that I was going to do a painting for them which I would donate to them for fundraising purposes.
When I visited them in March, 2006, they were in the process of readying a herd of the gazelles, (extinct in the wild), to be relocated to a wildlife reserve in the United Arab Emirates. The gazelles in the painting were the ones which actually went to the reserve. When I visited again in June, 2006 I presented them with the painting.
I painted it using acrylic paints on stretched canvas.
