One of a series of pieces based on photographs of Bath and its surroundings. In this case a night scene of Bath Abbey (1499-1503 on the site of a huge Norman Abbey of 1120-1161, viewed from the South West. The Abby and its predecessor are both built over a previous Saxon church where, in 959 Edgar, who had united the kindoms of Mercia and and Wessex, was crowned as the first king of all England by Archbishop Dunstan of Cantebury.
I am a 'New Media' Artist and Photographer living and working in Bath. Starting as a conventional media artist (waterclours, acrylics, pen and ink etc) in recent years I have moved completely into the field of digital and new media fine arts. My works are created from under paintings drawn in a variety of sources - ranging from traditional mediums (watercolours, acrylics, inks etc) - to photographs, and original digital images, all of which are recomposed and/or finished digitally. I am convinced that the web is the key to the democratic future of the visual arts. I get much positive critical feedback from buyers of my art, and visitors to my on-line art sites, which together receive millions of hits each year. I also use the virtual environment to share critiques and associate with an international group of fellow artists, collectors and art lovers. The subjects and styles I employ in my art and photography range ascoss the entire face of modernism and incorporate elements of conceptual art.I am a member of the 'For Now' group of contemporary artists in Bath.
