Original 24 x 30 oil painting of the very famous Salsa Queen Celia Cruz. Done especially for womens heritage month. She was done mainly because she has had such an impact in the musical industry, without Celia there is no Salsa or azucar! Her music spans culture, and the entire latin Nations, Thanks, Sonia Rodriguez

Ever since I can remember I always enjoyed drawing and painting. However, I was easily influenced and encouraged by my aunt who would come and visit us and would bring presents for me. I was never much for toys but, her presents consisted of "paint by Numbers kit", coloring books, colored pencils, etc. Thanks to her and my mothers great creative genes I have come to be a self taught artist. I don't have any particular style or technique, but I do like to paint portrature, animals, different cultures, and Native American art. I consider details a challenge and I eagerly take that challenge. I also love Color, I don't have a favorite color as all are my favorite and because of that I try to incorporate as much color onto the canvas as possible. My favorite artists are Kirby Sattler, JD Challenger, Lee Nobles, and Norman Rockwell. I admire ALL artists who are fine artists and can mirror their subjects on their canvases. Here is a list of my exhibits so far. A) Dec.11, 2007 M.S. 45 S.T.A.R.S. Prep Academy School. Curator Taina Traverso. B) February 2, 2008 Senator 28th District 157th East 104th street New York, NY Senator Jose M. Serrano. Curator Taina Traverso. C) East Harlem Arts Festival along 106th street presented by Senator M. Serrano May 17th, 2008. D) The Bronx Latin American Art Biennial September 12 - October 19th, 2008 at Lincoln Hospital Exhibition Hall. Curators Luis Stephenberg, Alexis Mendoza, Miguel Lescano. E) Riverbank State Park September 27th - Oct 10th, 2008 for "Hispanic Heritage Month." Curator Wilda Gonzalez F) Giovanna's Restaurant 1567 Lexington Ave. New York, NY Curator Taina Traverso. G) From LTC Miguel Mendez for the painting of "Queen Yuisa Taino Chief" exhibited at the "Puerto Rico National Guard Museum" in Puerto Rico August 8th, 2008. In honor of the Puerto Rican Women in the Military. Thanks, Sonia Rodriguez

Profile Thank you! That blue just grabbed me in the little icon that they have posted:) I used to work image on white paper, and it did take a lot of work to get out of that habit.
Profile Thanks for critique and advice. Will take it into consideration. Your work is awesome! Saw your website also. You have a very imaginative mind and I appreciate work like that very much. It makes me see that the artist puts inMORE then just beautiful pictures.
Profile Wonderful sense of colors and personality! I would consider, for future pieces, to not place them upon a blank white canvas, but work in your flair of color through out the WHOLE piece. (White tends to 'suck' at the color, loosing some of the saturation of it, such as that blue)
