The artist Claudy Thiry is a descendant of the surrealist and symbolist traditions. Her work is inspired by psychology, current events - often decisive ones - religion, social ties and the role of women in modern society.Imagination, expressivity, and personal interpretation find free rein in her work. For several years, her principal form of expression has been drawing. She uses oil and hard pastels, pencil and India ink.She fashions her drawings like sculptures, working on them over time to create relief, form and color. She conceives each piece in her head and then executes it in any of a number of media. Hers is a perfectionist's eye with a sharp sense of pictorial detail.------------------------------------------------------A natural gift for drawing and extensive artistic training starting as an adolescent.Creation of the Megevan artists collective in Megve (Haute Savoie) along with other local artists and sculptors ; group gallery exhibition lasting several months (1971).First solo exhibition in Megve at "Les Enfant Terribles" Htel du Mont Blanc, in a gallery decorated by Cocteau (1972).Member of an artists collective in the Paris suburbs ; various exhibitions at St. Germain-en-Laye (1973-1978).5 years of coursework at the l'Ecole du Louvre in Paris ; subjects included painting, drawing and art history.Several group exhibitions in various parisian galleries, civic buildings, and at the independants salon and the salon d'Automne (1980-1995).Several solo exhibitions at Raincy, Livry-Gargan, Villemomble, Senlis, Coucy-le Chteau and in Vichy and the surrounding region (1980-2004).blog:
