Acrylic on Paper
NIBUR is a self-taught artist whose activity spans most of his adult life. His last retrospective exhibit in Seville, Spain, in April 1992, covered the period 1985 to 2001, where one would have observed his stylistic and thematic evolution. The early years are represented primarily by ink drawings on paper, covering a wide range of figurative abstractions and themes, followed by acrylics on paper, panel on wood and canvas, mostly abstract renderings reminiscent of the some the contemporary Spanish and American masters. Several of his works are titled in Spanish, Homenaje a Picasso, Homenaje a Miro... Professor Rubins largest work is a tribute to the Quincemtennial Anniversary of the Americas in 1492.
Professor Rubin was elected Academico of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes y Ciencias Historicas de Toledo, Spain and was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award by the University of Houston. The government of Spain has distinguished him with the Officers Cross of the Order of Isabel la Catolica.

I enjoy the subtlety of form and color in this painting. It has a meditative quality... 9/4/2012 |
