Early morning coastal study/seascape. Relic trees on sandstone island. Pastel on Canson paper. Once framed approximately 100cm high, 80cm wide.

Hi,I am a professional artist working predominantly in pastels on Canson paper. I also do oils on canvas. I have a background as a scientific illustrator and have done commercial art, photographic essays and marine cartography in the course of my employment. About eighteen years ago I left the safety net of government employment and began painting the world as I see it, and I see much beauty. I think my art reflects that. I have exhibited throughout Australia during that time in solo and group exhibitions and in public galleries. My paintings are found in Government, Corpoate and private collections in every state of Australia. My work sells to collectors worldwide. Apart from original art works I offer for sale small museum quality prints of selected works at reasonable prices.Subject Matter. My life has been rich in experience and in joy. Family and friends often appear in the landscape. I am deeply interested in the environment and in wildlife and native flora. I have always lived near water, and of course I have always loved messing about with boats. Even as a child I saw the art in my little world and developed a fascination with the play of light on water and sky. My employment in a marine fisheries research laboratory enhanced my love of all things marine and introduced me to the beautiful intricacies of working boats. As a family man I had the pleasure of sharing beach life with my wife and children, I still do. We travel frequently and so add to the variety of images I feel impelled to paint. Trips to desert areas have left a deep impression. I also had the priviledge of joining a scientific expedition into Australia's harsh red centre. This inspired a continuing theme of desert images.
