The surface of this painting is very smooth. I applied a mixture that I was able to then sand down after it dried and set into the weave of the canvas. The process I go through for this kind of work often takes longer than the painting itself.
This kind of painting is one of a kind. Although I've attempted to create the energy that went into this work and begin a series on the subject, I have, so far, been unsuccessful.
I've been asked if I know what I'm going to paint before I get started. I always deny knowing anything about the work, but that isn't always true.
When I create a painting, it is influenced by what is going on inside of me. That same energy has to be consistent though out the painting. When it is lost, the painting is either done or unfortunately heading into a different direction.
Dragon had a consistent idea though out it's creation, very powerful and emotional. That strong feeling I had has now past or evolved into something else, rendering the power to create another like it useless. I am attempting to make a smaller painting with the same colors and similar forms, but am having a very difficult time.
Without commitment I write the following. I like to paint. I like to draw. I like to sculpt. I like to fix and create things.
Art is the only thing in my life that I don't have to take seriously. It comes from within and I don't argue with it. The meanings or influences that go into my painting although they are my own are easily translated by viewers from their perspective.
I have a lot of irons in the fire which is an expression meaning that I have a lot going on in my life. I build websites for companies and work from home. I have no children, I'm not married, I'm surrounded by cats, dogs and horses. I always find time to paint because I'd rather be doing that anyway.
A year or more ago I gave birth to a painting using 3 point perspective. It is titled Absolute Uncertainty. It is my member gallery but take a look at all of the developing photos, close ups and flash presentation on how to properly use 3 point perspective. I receive emails from all over the world on how cool this is, so I point to you this shining star.
Appreciate all you have in your heart and love the people around you. Dave
