Jeane Vogel is an award-winning photographer who crafts art with light and lenses. She uses traditional and experimental tools and techniques to expose the world of nature, faith and humankind in a singular light. She has exhibited her photography in galleries, art fairs and exhibits in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Her work is included in private and public collections throughout the Midwest. Jeane is a member of the St. Louis Womens Caucus for the Arts and the St. Louis Artists Guild.Her SX-70 Polaroid Manipulation images allow us to see past reality to bring an alternative vision of the world into focus. Recent exhibits include: Midwest Winter , January 14 - March 6, 2005, Center for the Visual Arts, Wausau, WI. Juried in this national, all-media exhibit was Reflection in a Frozen River. Voices Within: Surviving Through the Arts, January 16 - March 5, 2005, St. Louis Artists Guild. Juried into the national exhibit was Walking a Sacred Path. Voices Within is a national, all media, slide-juried competition featuring work related to the health and well-being of women. This exhibition is organized in conjunction with the exhibition Inside Out Loud: Visualizing Womens Health in Contemporary Art, on display at the Kemper Art Museum, Washington University, January 21 to April 24, 2005. The juror is Katherine Sherwood, Professor of Art Practice at the University of California, Berkeley. Journeys of the Mind, January 16 - March 5, 2005, St. Louis Artists Guild. Juried in this all media, national, slide-juried exhibit were Reflection in a Frozen River and Pensive. The juror is William Hawk, Associate Professor of Art, University of Missouri-Columbia. Spirituality VII Exhibition, December 1-31, 2004, Period Gallery, Lincoln, NE. Juried into the international exhibit was Hanukkah Lights. EP Designworks, December Exhibit Photography: A Moment In Time, September 26 - November 13, 2004, St. Louis Artists' Guild. A national juried exhibit of modern photography, juried by Kathryn J. Reeves, Professor of Art at Purdue University. Hanukkah Lights was selected for inclusion in the exhibit and won the Richard Silverman Memorial Prize. 17th Northern National Art Competition July 27 - September 10, Nicolet Gallery, Rhinelander, WI. America's Reflection was selected for inclusion in the competition and awarded the Purchase Award. Faces III Exhibition, July 1-31, 2004, Period Gallery, Lincoln, NE Selected images for the international exhibit were Chinese Lion Dancer and Girl with a Shofar. Exploration/Exploitation, June 6-July 23, St. Louis Artist Guild. Defiant and America's Reflection were selected for this 11-state juried exhibition that asks artists to reflect upon the activity of exploration and its consequences. Artists live in the states along the Lewis and Clark Trail. Defiant was recognized with an Honorable Mention. Sports: The Champion Within, June 6-July 23, St. Louis Artists Guild. Got Game was selected for this regional, juried exhibition. Venus Envy, April 9 & 10, 2004 -- Juried Art Exhibit featuring established and emerging women artists and performers. Jeane was selected to exhibit an essay titled "Soul of Woman" in the St. Louis event.
