One of a series of expressionist abstract watercolours inspired by the ocean, scanned and reworked digitally.

I am a 'New Media' Artist and Photographer living and working in Bath. Starting as a conventional media artist (waterclours, acrylics, pen and ink etc) in recent years I have moved completely into the field of digital and new media fine arts. My works are created from under paintings drawn in a variety of sources - ranging from traditional mediums (watercolours, acrylics, inks etc) - to photographs, and original digital images, all of which are recomposed and/or finished digitally. I am convinced that the web is the key to the democratic future of the visual arts. I get much positive critical feedback from buyers of my art, and visitors to my on-line art sites, which together receive millions of hits each year. I also use the virtual environment to share critiques and associate with an international group of fellow artists, collectors and art lovers. The subjects and styles I employ in my art and photography range ascoss the entire face of modernism and incorporate elements of conceptual art.I am a member of the 'For Now' group of artists in Bath. Profile I have taken this directly from the focal length of a camera lens in which the 'depth of field' is directly proportional to focal distance of the particluar lens chosen; i.e. a subject at a greater distance will have greater depth of field than a close-up subject. Therefore, a distant subject can be...
Profile I'm interested in improving my phraseology, as it applies to crystalizing my pure senses, and this phrase of yours seems promising. Could you expand a bit on how YOU, Davaid, use this phrase, "depth of field"?, since I DO value your insights.
Profile I now see that while we were indeed sharing a common concept we were interpreting it differently. Yes, my point was metaphysical and with regard to your more material one it is true that I tend to work in flatish planes in my pure abstracts, and enjoy the boundaried juxtapositon of colours (although...
Profile Hi David, I think you are using the word "finished" in a metaphysical sense, while I am using the word in a visceral material sense. Maybe my observations are due to the nature of displaying images on a monitor, and if I saw your other works for real, then my senses would be better informed. But s...
Profile And to Robert, I am interested in your remark about the 'finished' nature of this piece. It has been said before (correctly) that my art appears unfinished - which I have embraced since I never consider any piece to be finished since all my art is contingent, provisional and open to later reinterpre...
